Well it seems that webcam interactions are becoming more and more common. I am constantly getting requests for webcam sessions and I have a very good friend who has actually gotten into webcam dating! I wonder how soon it’ll be before that takes off. Perhaps dating sites will start sending webcams to all those that sign up! Anyway, I figured I’d write about it to all those old folks who aren’t caught up just yet

What is webcam dating?

Webcam dating allows the user to have a chance to experience what is known as a cyber relationship from the comfort and safety of your home. It appears that a majority of people begin their online relationships or one night encounters in chat rooms or at online dating sites. However there is a growing number of people who want to enjoy the intimacy of a face to face chat. This is where webcam dating sites come in. The advantages include the following:

* You may give out as much or as little information as you are comfortable with
* You can set the scene for your online encounter. While at home, you can turn on some music, dim the lights, etc. to help build up the mood for yourself. Or just sit back in your pajamas and mug of coffe and surf the web while trying to meet new, interesting people.
* As long as you keep personal information out of sight of the webcam, you should be perfectly safe. Remember-don’t give out any personal info! If you use your real name, stick to your first name only. Be sure you don’t have any mail, magazines, etc. lying around that can be seen on camera!
* You get decide just how intimate you want your cyber encounters to be. Do you want the relationship to be strictly platonic, or would you prefer some sexual dialogue and more?
* You can have a sexual experience without the risk of STDs, commitments, etc.

How It Works
Obviously, you’ll need a few things to get started, such as the following:
•    Computer
•    Webcam
•    Headset or microphone and speakers
•    DSL or cable Internet connection

There are various free webcam sites available for you to visit. Just search for them on any search engine. Make a note to read the site’s terms and conditions before joining. Some have very strict guidelines while others have very lax policies. Some prohibited activities may include the following:
•    Pornography may be prohibited.
•    Harassment of or abusive language towards users isn’t typically allowed.
•    Mail, address, telephone etc. are not allowed to be posted on webcam chat.
•    Repeatedly posting the same message which disrupts the flow of a discussion if often not allowed.
•    Frozen cams will often be removed, so don’t put the focus of your webcam on an empty room!

Remember - don’t offer personal information about yourself. Even something as little as giving your first name and your hometown could lead to a dangerous situation.
